VideoNormalizer VR
VideoNormalizer VR converts supported side-by-side VR and 3D videos into regular 2D MP4 videos. All video processing takes place locally on your Mac.
Getting started
- Open or drag in one or more videos.
- Choose the input type: VR fisheye or side-by-side 3D.
- Select the left or right image and adjust the available framing and projection settings.
- Check the preview at different positions in the video.
- Choose an export folder and start rendering.
When opening multiple files, the selected export settings apply to the entire batch.
Supported formats
- Input: MP4, MOV and MKV containing H.264 or HEVC video.
- Layout: Side-by-side stereo. Available adjustments depend on the selected input type.
- Output: MP4 with H.264 video. Supported audio is copied or converted to AAC.
A supported file extension does not guarantee that every video or audio codec inside it can be read. Top-and-bottom stereo and arbitrary VR layouts are not currently supported.
While rendering
- Pause / Resume: Temporarily stop processing and continue later.
- Skip: Discard the current unfinished export and continue with the next file.
- Cancel: Stop the batch after confirmation. Completed exports are kept.
- Open Export Folder: Open the destination in Finder.
- Render Preview: Display occasional preview images to check framing. Preview generation may slow rendering.
The render preview uses your export settings at reduced resolution. It does not show compression artifacts from the final encoded file.
The Dock badge shows how many files remain, including the file currently being processed.
Export files
Exports are saved to your Movies folder or a custom folder of your choice. Existing files are preserved: repeated exports receive numbered filenames such as _2 and _3.
If processing is interrupted unexpectedly, an unfinished temporary file may remain. On a later launch, the app can offer to remove unfinished exports found in the selected export folder.
When finished
Choose a Dock notification, a sound, no action, or Shut Down Computer.
Dock and sound notifications apply when the app is in the background. Shutdown applies to one run only and starts only after every file has exported successfully. A visible 60-second countdown lets you cancel before shutdown is requested.
macOS may ask for permission to control System Events. Save any work in other applications before allowing the countdown to finish.
Troubleshooting
A video cannot be opened
Check its codec and stereo layout, not just its filename extension. If possible, try another supported file.
The image looks stretched or incorrectly framed
Check the input type, selected eye, output format and projection settings. Some side-by-side sources contain squeezed images that require additional correction.
Export fails or the destination is unavailable
Check that the destination drive is connected, writable and has enough free space. Use Change… to select the folder again if needed.
Rendering is slow
Large frames and projection adjustments require more processing. Reduce the export resolution or turn off the render preview.
